The Tourism Ministry has stated that staffers of tourist facilities who test positive for COVID-19 are to be isolated on a designated separate island with no risk of contact.

The Ministry said that those testing positive for the virus among tourists and staffers as well as direct contacts are to be isolated and quarantined in a separate island.

Interested parties willing to provide such a facility can now submit applications, according to the Ministry which also stated specific requirements that must be met.

The island is to be located in either K. Atoll, A.A. Atoll, A.Dh. Atoll, or V. Atoll and must have a bed capacity of at least 50 beds, in addition to meeting requirements of the HPA.

Food and accommodation must be provided by the operators of the island upon providing the island for the use of the ministry to isolate positive cases and contacts.

A zoom meeting for interested parties for further clarification of information will be held on November 10, 13:00. Interested parties are to submit applications before November 16, 14:00.

Those interested in taking part in the zoom meeting are to email the ministry along with their name and email address.

Currently, there are active cases of COVID-19 in 18 residential islands as well as 27 resorts. Those tested positive from resorts include 35 tourists and 81 staffers.
