Suspect arrested in connection to stabbing in Addu

Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing in Addu City last weekend. 

The incident took place in the flats in Addu during Friday prayer time. A 29-year-old man from Hithadhoo was injured with a sharp-edged weapon in the incident. 

Police confirm they arrested a suspect – identified as a 31-year-old male – in connection to the stabbing under court order on Tuesday night. 

Meanwhile, the man injured in the attack has been transported to Male’ City for further treatment, confirms Addu Equatorial Hospital’s Senior Customer Relations Officer Shaafee Mohamed. 

A second attack took place in Addu on Friday evening, injuring a 27-year-old male and a 23-year-old female on a motorcycle. 

Police have yet to make an arrest in connection to the second incident. 

Shaafee said the two victims sustained minor injuries, and were discharged from the hospital after treatment.
