COVID-19 patient admitted at HMF passes away, death toll rises to 240

A COVID-19 patient admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) has passed away.

Sun has been informed that the identity of the latest COVID-19 fatality as a 44-year-old woman from HA. Vashafaru. She had passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Her death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 240.

The last COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives prior to this was on Monday; an 87-year-old Maldivian man who was being treated at Addu Covid Management Facility.

Within the last 24-hours, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 95 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 86,419.      

According to HPA, the 95 new cases include; 38 cases from the greater Male’ region, 55 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and two cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 63 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,856.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,311 active cases.      

There are 15 patients in hospitals.
