Riyan Pvt Ltd claimed that delays in the design work of various hospitals in Maldives that were given to them were due to the negligence of the Health Ministry.

According to a statement released by Riyan on Tuesday, the company has handed over tender documents to the ministry for the designs of all Health Centers assigned to them, as dictated in the agreement.

The company also noted that they had to redo the design work for B. Eydhafushi Hospital as the hospital's grading was upgraded about two months after the second concept drawings were submitted.

Additionally, it stated that the company attempted to bring to the ministry’s attention the need to reduce the size of the land plot for Aa. Rasdhoo hospital building prior to the agreement. However, after the drawings were amended to fit the land plot as per the instructions of the ministry, a new location was decided for the hospital.

The statement said that in addition to these issues, they also faced other difficulties in working on this project due to the ministry, such as having to revise drawings more times than stated in the agreement and delays in receiving responses from them.

Meanwhile, the State Minister of Health Ahmed Adil said to Sun that there were some delays in compiling the designs to violations of the set guidelines of the ministry.
