CP assures Naeema’s killer will be found

The Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed on Sunday gave assurances that they will find those responsible behind the brutal murder of Naeema Moosa, 62, Annaarumaage, N. Manadhoo. 

She was found stabbed to death in her bedroom at around 06:30 pm April 7. Police have yet to make an arrest in the case.

The CP’s remarks come after the Criminal Court sentenced Adhuham Mohamed - convicted of killing taxi driver Qasim Hassan in a knife attack in suburban Hulhumale’ in 2019 to death.

In a tweet, CP Hameed noted and credited the hard work done by the investigative and forensic team, for the success attained in the Qasim case.

He went on to state that similarly, Police was working tirelessly for the Naeema was as well. 

Furthermore, he said that the investigations, forensic and local police teams working on the case are confident on reaching an outcome.

CP Hameed also stated that he was priori of the teams, and revealed that he has personally congratulated the teams.

Qasim, 59, was found stabbed in an isolated street near the halfway house in Hulhumale’ on December 4, 2019. He died shortly after he was taken to the hospital.

Adhuham was found guilty of murder with intent on March 19. The Criminal Court took testimony from Gasim’s heirs – all of whom said they wanted the death penalty.

A street sweeper employed by the local council, Naeema had lived alone. She was report missing by her family at around 06:13 pm on April 7. She was last seen on April 5.

 

The police had to break open her bedroom door, and found her lying dead on the floor.

The police remain tightlipped regarding the details of Naeema’s death, but confirmed last week it is being investigated as a homicide.
