Guraidhoo Home for Special Needs' senior staff under probe for stealing from patient

Gender Ministry, on Monday, revealed that they are probing a case involving senior staff at K. Guraidhoo Home for People with Special Needs stealing from a patient housed at the facility. 

The case first came to light due to a post that went viral on social media.

The staff is suspected of using the patient’s cash card to carry out business transactions and withdrawing money from the patient’s account.

Gender Minister’s Spokesperson Fathimath Zamheena confirmed the case had been brought to the Ministry’s attention. She said they were investigating the case further.

“The suspected staff, pending the completion investigation, has been suspended,” she said.

Zamheena said appropriate action will be taken against the staff upon the completion of the investigation.

As per the social media post, over MVR 7,000 has been robbed from the patient’s account.
