MVR 1.5m to be spent on repair of Addu’s mosques

Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed says that MVR 1.5 million will be utilized from the Mosque Fund this year to repair the mosques in Addu City.

In a post on X on Sunday, Shaheem, who is currently accompanying President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on a tour of Addu, said that 68 mosques in the city will be repaired this year.

He said that MVR 1.5 million will be utilized from the Mosque Fun to repair the mosques through the Addu City Council.

He added that it is the single biggest spending by the government on the repair of the southern city’s mosques.

Shaheem also said that the project to build an Islamic center in Addu will be expedited, and the center is expected to be done by May 2025.
