The Maldives First Lady Sajida Mohamed on Sunday, inaugurated the second term of the Maldives Women in Policing Committee.

The inauguration of the committee's second term was held at a special event at Iskandharu Koshi on Sunday evening.

Speaking at the occasion, the First Lady emphasized on the significance of the Maldives Police Service and highlighted specifically the crucial role played by its female officers.

She underscored the positive outcomes resulting from women's empowerment and the expansion of their roles, and stressed the importance of their participation across multiple sectors within the police force.

During her speech, First Lady Sajida expressed pride in the notable contributions made by women in the Maldives Police Service, and encouraged continued dedication by the officers.

She further stressed that empowering women more would enable them to effectively address various societal issues affecting their experiences.

Besides officiating the second term of the committee, the First Lady also introduced the inaugural edition of the monthly newsletter "Special Inaugural Issue" by the committee.

Additionally, a moment of silence was observed in remembrance of the late Chief Inspector of Police, Mohamed Ziyad, who passed away earlier on Sunday.
