Maldives’ Club HDC suffered a blow on Thursday as they lost their first game in the CAVA Men’s Champions League against Kyrgyzstan champions Bishkek.
The CAVA Men’s Champions League – the biggest men’s club volleyball competition in central Asia – began at the Social Center Male’ on Thursday afternoon. The second match of the tournament in the late afternoon saw Club HDC - the finalists of both the Maldives National Volleyball Competition and the Association Cup – go up against Bishkek – the champions of Kyrgyzstan Volleyball League.
While Club HDC put on a straight performance, Bishkek came out as the stronger side, winning the match in three straight sets of 27-25, 26-24, and 25-20.
It follows Kazakhstan side Zhaiyk VC’s win against Sri Lanka Port Authority earlier in the afternoon.
The third and final match of the day starts at 09:45 pm, and will see Maldives’ champions the Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) go up against Nepalese champions Help Nepal SC.
