Police investigating 'lost' USD 30K in police custody

Police announced Thursday they are investigating the alleged "loss" of USD 30,000 that was seized in connection with a case from September 15, 2019.

The Criminal Investigation Command is looking into a discrepancy identified in the total amount of the seized money. 

"Damaged notes were also recovered from the location where it was kept, in a bag, and is currently being examined by forensics," police stated. This discrepancy was discovered on Wednesday.

Tens of thousands of dollars have been 'lost' while under police custody, and an investigation has been launched, but authorities have yet to clarify the specifics of the situation.
