Two minors arrested in Irushan’s murder

Two minors have been arrested in connection with murder of 14-year-old Ahmed Irushan Hilmy (Ranfaru, K. Kaashidhoo).

Police held a press conference on Sunday, in which Superintendent of Police, Abdulla Shatheeh said that the violence erupted between two groups – Vai Kanmathi and Eagles over a disagreement between the two groups on Friday morning.

Police has not revealed the nature of the dispute.

Shatheeh said that mostly minors participated in the gang fight that took place on the corner of Shaheed Ali Hingun and Majeedhi Magu at 5:45 pm, Friday.

And that the two suspects arrested were also minors.

Shatheeh said that about six individuals had gone to the truck in which the members of Vai Kanmathi were, and carried out the fight.

He said that Irushan – who was fatally stabbed – had also participated in the gang fight.

Shatheeh said that Irushan had a stab wound one-and-a-half inches deep on his neck.

He said that Irushan had been stopped and questioned by police on multiple occasion, and was also suspected of being involved in gang related crimes.

Police said that they had identified everyone involved in the crime, and were working on arresting them all.
