John Keells Holdings expresses interest in expanding business in Maldives

Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, John Keells Holdings PLC has expressed interest in expanding its investment in tourism sector of Maldives.

John Keells, which has more than 150-years of experience, manages three resorts in Maldives; Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon, Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives, and Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives.

It also manages eight resorts and three hotels in Sri Lanka.

Speaking during the Asia Hotel and Tourism Hotel Investment Conference held at Hilton Colombo last week, Executive Vice President of John Keells Holdings, Sunimal Senanayake said that Maldives and Sri Lanka are priority markets to expand tourism hotel business.

Senanayake noted the boost in tourist arrivals to Maldives; especially the rise in occupancy rate over the last two months.

“Maldives is a unique place. Markets are expanding. There’s room for more investment,” he said.
