The Maldivian Red Crescent's Palestine Relief Fund has closed with MVR 2 million raised.

The fund, which opened on the 14th of last month, closed last Sunday.

The Red Crescent revealed in a statement the amount the fund had received as of 28 last month. Till that date, the fund has received MVR 2,105,337.14 (two million one hundred five thousand three hundred thirty seven rufiyaa sixteen laari).

The Red Crescent said the fund continued until last Sunday at the request of many people as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to change due to the attacks that they continuously face. The association will announce the amount received by the fund till last Sunday, this upcoming Sunday.

"The aim is to send the funds received till the 12th of this month to the impoverished people of Gaza as soon as possible," the Red Crescent said.

They said that the proceeds will be sent to the Palestinian Red Crescent. The money will be used to provide medical equipment, fuel and expenses for vehicles, as well as food and clean drinking water to the needy. The funds will also be used to provide housing, the association said.

More than 11,000 people have been killed in Israel's inhuman attacks on Gaza. More than 27,000 people have been injured.

The attacks have left many people starving and others displaced.

Many Maldivian organizations and private individuals are working to help the Palestinian people.
